Picking a waterbed mattress

Picking a waterbed mattress

Whatever type of waterbed mattress you choose, you can be sure that provided it is filled to an amount that suits you, it will provide great comfort.  Most waterbed mattresses come with built in layers of stabilising fibres to reduce motion when moving on it.  Better Waterbeds supply as standard a 5 layer, 95% motionless mattress so that customers can enjoy the benefits of waterbed comfort with minimum disturbance.  The method of measuring the stability of a mattress is by standing outside and to the side of the mattress and pushing it.  The 5 layer mattresss will stabilise in one second when tested this way.  For those who would like to experience the motion of the water to a greater extent a three layer fibre filled mattress will do that without being excessive, about two seconds.  For ultimate stability a 6 layer fibre filled mattress can be supplied which is 99% motionless for waterbed comfort with no movement.  Customers can also select a freeflow mattress at the other end of the spectrum which has no stabilisers built in and this does take a few seconds to stabilise and is maybe for those die hards who relish the original waterbed experence, and there is no harm in that.

Looking to buy a Waterbed, Can we help you?

Choosing a new bed is the single most important consumer item that you need.  Think about it.  We spend a third of our lives in bed.  Rest and sleep are the mechanisms for repairing, restoring and renewing the body.  Unless the maximum is achieved from this process the quality of life will compromised.  Failure to get the restorative powers that are provided by proper rest can be very destructive to the progress of getting through this life.

Waterbeds may not be the only method of getting the optimum rest that the body deserves but they are  probably the only sure fire way of making an easy successful choice.  The volume and mass of water, heated to the correct temperature within an appropriately designed casing provides a very simple and unbeatable comfort support system for the body.  The modern softside waterbed mattress has the amazing capacity to shape and support the body evenly.

Waterbeds enjoy the committed and enthusiastic regard of the vast majority of users.  That is borne out by the experience of Better Waterbeds in over a quarter of a century of service.  So if anyone who is considering a waterbed for the first time, needs validation, don't just take our word for it, refer your interest to someone you can contact who has one and you can be sure of a good reference.

Clearly the health preserving properties and comfort of a mattress will be the overriding consideration of customers.  On that score enough has been said already to confirm our confidence that waterbed is the best choice.  What about hygiene, too.  For maintained, long term cleanliness  no other bed mattress comes close to a waterbed.  The waterbed  which could be any type of mattress until closer inspection, has a top cover that is zipped onto a bottom section that encloses the mattress.  This can be easily removed for washing and the vinyl casing of the mattress wiped clean and made as good as new.  Compare that with any other type of mattress which absorbs dead skin and is a breeding place for bed bugs as well as deteriorating in support quality with use.  Everyone who uses a waterbed benefits from their cleanliness but none more so than allegy sufferers.  Furthermore waterbeds are extremely durable and with normal care can last for 20 or more years in continued perfect operation.  Even the initial financial outlay for a waterbed compares favourably with the price of a top end sprung or memory foam mattress. This advantage is further extended by the far longer useful life of a waterbed compared to other types.   If this isn't enough, waterbeds can be "tweaked" to provide optimum comfort, (if that is not already achieved) by varying slightly the amount of water in the mattress to make it softer or firmer, and by adjusting the thermostically controlled heater to provide slightly warmer or cooler mattress.  These changes are easily done.  What other bed type can boast of these advantages!

Selecting the bed style

Selecting the bed style

Better Waterbeds endeavours to provide for customers a selection of the most appealing bed styles available in the bed market.  The advancement of waterbed mattress technology has made it possible for all bed styles to be compatible as a Waterbed.  So the style choice is for the customer to decide.   By way of further information to assist potential customers mulling over what to choose, some notes are given here based on past experience.  Customers need to be aware that the waterbeds sold by Better Waterbeds are UK standard sizes.  These are mattress sizes for King, 5' x 6' 6" (153 cm x 200 cm), Superking 6' x 6' 6" (180 cm x 200 cm), Double 4' 6" x 6' 3" (135 cm x 191 cm), Single 3' x 6' 3" (91 cm x 191 cm).   For all these sizes, normal bedsheets including fitted sheets will work perfectly well.  The other measurement that customers may wish to consider is the height from floor to top of mattress.  The style of bed determines this height which on average is eighteen inches but can be lower on some styles such as the Elan or higher as in the Divan type.  It should be noted that the frames within which the mattress sits extends these measurements in the width and length, and wherever possible those measurements are given on the website, but it is imperative that before deciding on the bed style preferred, that full consideration be given to the bedroom space available.  Potential customers should also be aware that Better Waterbeds will provide a service to convert an existing bed to a waterbed provided it is suitable for a UK standard size mattress.
